History of the band
The Stroud Area Wind Orchestra was founded in 2016 by Jenny Mainwaring and David Smith and held its first rehearsal in June 2016 and held their first concert after 7 weeks of rehearsals on the 26th July 2016.
The band has since grown in size and currently has an average of 40 playing members ranging in ages from 13 to over 75! Our members come from all walks of life and we welcome new players all year round.
The band is continuing to grow and develop and we are currently developing an outreach programme to be launched in September 2018.
Our existing Musical Director is David Smith.
